Harris Pendleton collection

The collection comprises of material relating to the United States Sealing Voyage, 1820-1821 (Senior commander Benjamin Pendleton) from Stonington to the South Atlantic.

Harris Pendleton commanded the sloop Hero during the United States Sealing Voyage (from Stonington), 1821-1822 (leader Benjamin Pendleton), sailing as part of a fleet, Hero visited the South Shetland Islands. It was while on board Hero that Nathaniel Palmer had made several significant discoveries the previous year and Pendleton himself may have made exploratory voyages from a base on Deception Island.

The collection is arranged chronologically.
