Custodial History

Coll-1496/1/40 came from the former Institute of Animal Genetics Library (now part of the School of Biological Sciences) in the 1990s; Coll-1496/41-86 have an unknown provenance, although they have been part of the Library's holdings since at least before 1990. The University Calendar for 1946-/47 records that F.A.E. Crew made a gift of books and reprints to the University Library and the Institute of Animal Genetics Library. It may be that this lies behind the division in the collection. Crew also donated some printed papers and books to the University after his death in 1973.
