Permission from RCOG senior management via the College Archivist is required for College records less than twenty years old.

The majority of the awards were until recently administered by the Scientific Advisory Committee, established for that purpose in 1950, and almost all of these records are records of that committee and its predecessors. Current administrators are specified in the individual series descriptions. Most prizes and awards were then administered by the Awards Secretary, Administration Department, and transferred regularly to the Archives, and this role was taken on by the Resources Directorate in 2012.
