Regarding William Barnett sending A D Rutherford"the accompanying dressing case as an emblem of my respect and esteem for you". From the contents of the letter it would appear that A D Rutherford was about to get married and that William Barnett may have been the best man as he mentions that "I have commissioned Maggie to make a long speech for me on this occasion". Letter is embossed with company stamp of Wm McLaren, Sons & Co who were warehousemen and manufacturers in Glasgow. The envelope is addressed to Mr A D Rutherfurd, 6 So[uth] Wellington, Street.
