Minutes and Agendas of meetings and papers regarding the student sit-in at the University of Hull, Jan-Feb 1972, also known as the 'January 26 Movement'. Papers regarding the campaign against the Tory government's proposals for Student Unions and the link with the Miners Strike.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Anti-Apartheid Movement within the University, with support of Hull University Union, had been lobbying and campaigning for the divestment of Hull University's Reckitt and Colman shares. Reckitt and Colman was a local firm with extensive interests in South Africa and Rhodesia, and students involved in the sit in wished to 'sever [the University's] relationship with the foul South-African political system.'
