Principal's Files

The Principal's Files contain detailed information concerning the administration and policies of the Principal's Office at UMIST. The files include papers relating to campus development and building programmes, details of financial arrangements and funding, the expansion of departments, the change in emphasis from non-university courses to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, the role of the Students' Union and growth in student numbers. The files also contain correspondence and papers relating to collaboration and links with industry, an area that became increasingly significant for the Institute.
