'Matilda and the Chickens'

Original pencil drawings to illustrate 'Matilda and the Chickens' by Madeleine Henery, first published in 1950. All of the drawings appear to be finished pieces, not roughs or sketches, although not the final illustrations used for printing as those used in the book were executed in pen. It seems probable that these pencil drawings were traced and then redrawn in pen for the purposes of printing. The file includes one finished pen illustration and prints of three other finished pen illustrations.
