Scope and Content

The objects comprise three chairs, two ashtrays, and seven lamps of various designs.

Administrative / Biographical History

In 1951 Schottlander set up a small business in North London manufacturing his own industrial designs. His work appealed to architects and designers who valued simple forms in primary colours. Schottlander designed an ashtray for the Council of Industrial Design's Design Centre when it opened in the Haymarket in 1956 and one of his table lamps, the self-assembly Lotus Light, was included in the Council's 'Design Review'.
