Scope and Content

Part 1 of the volume includes alphabetically arranged inventories of the following civil parishes of the administrative county of Merioneth: Bala; Barmouth; Bettws Gwerfil Goch; Brithdir and Islaw'r Dre; Corwen; Dolgelly; Festiniog; Gwyddelwern; Llanaber; Llanbedr; Llandanwg; Llandderfel; Llanddwywe Is y Graig; Llanddwywe Uwch y Graig; Llandecwyn; Llandrillo; Llanegryn; Llanelltyd; Llanenddwyn; Llanfachreth. Many of the entries are complemented with illustrations, such as photographs or engravings. Also included within part 1 are various papers: manuscript and typescript notes, correspondence, newspaper cuttings, photographs, drawings and postcards relating to the descriptions in the volume. Near the beginning of the volume, on the last of the pages of contents, is a list of illustrations, which are to be found at the end of part 2. There is also a list of three maps, which are also to be found in part 2. Finally, at the end of the contents is a list of monuments specified by the Commission as being especially worthy of preservation.
