Scope and Content

Original artwork, roughs, layouts and a small amount of correspondence relating to 'The Most Amazing Hide and Seek Alphabet Book', Robert Crowther's first pop-up book published in 1977. The book was originally conceived as part of Crowther's final project at art college and the series includes roughs done whilst at college and a dummy book which was probably the final product of the project. The series also includes original artwork and layouts relating to a mini version of the book, published in 1992 following the suggestion of David Teale of Red House Books; and original artwork relating to the new edition of the book, entitled 'Robert Crowther's Most Amazing Hide and Seek Alphabet Book' and published by Walker Books in 1999. The small amount of correspondence in the series relates to Crowther's early attempts to get the book published in 1973. The series also includes a first edition copy of the printed book.
