Administrative / Biographical History
Vera Gertrude Hughes was born in Swansea on 1st January 1900, and grew up in Mumbles. Gertrude studied at the College of Preceptors, London. She became a pharmacist, and worked as assistant dispenser at Swansea Hospital. Her father, W. D. Hughes, was Secretary of Swansea Hospital. On 26th September 1923 she married Reginald Garlick Thomas, also of Mumbles. She died on 27th September 1928.
