Although the majority of the deeds relate to the large south west Surrey estate accumulated subsequent to Christopher More's purchase of the manor of Loseley, 1506-1508 (see introduction to section A), a significant minority relate to estates in other counties. Of these latter, many came into family hands by marriage; some relate to executorships or trusteeships by family members; others are of unknown provenance, and may include 'strays' introduced perhaps by the antiquarian William Bray, documents entrusted to the care of a member of the family and never reclaimed (see 'executorships, wardships and trusteeships' for LM/357/53, section G.9.17.4) receipt for deeds to be held in trust, and for accompanying deeds), or documents acquired for antiquarian interest by James More Molyneux FSA (1805-1874) or others.

After the death of Joan de Bures, daughter of Robert de Dol, one moiety descended to her son William de Bures and the other to John Norton, great-grandson of her sister Margaret. The Norton moiety passed to the Sidneys and thence to Christopher More in 1506. The other moiety was in the Strode family from 1429 to 1481 when it passed to John Westbrooke and thence to Christopher More in 1508. The manor of Witley was a Crown manor during most of the 16th century, both Christopher and William More sometime acting as stewards. Keepership of Witley Park appears to have been granted separately, until it was granted in farm and then outright to Elizabeth Egerton (daughter of William More, formerly Elizabeth Wolley), from 1596. In 1599 the manor was granted to Elizabeth Egerton and on her death in 1600, it was inherited by her son Francis Wolley. Wolley sold the manor to Sir George More in 1605. In 1613, the park was sold to Sir Edward More, and the manor to Henry Bell of Rake. (Descent quoted from VCH Vol III). In a number of cases below there is no obvious association of title of the deeds with the Loseley estate (eg those relating to Braboeuf estates), either by purchase or subsequent transaction; these deeds have nevertheless been included, at the end of this subseries. Documents in this series relate to estates of families related to the principal (ie heirs of Loseley) More and More Molyneux family. In some cases, the estates were inherited in part by the Loseley family; in other cases it is not evident from the present deeds that their involvement was more than executorship or trusteeship (no detailed research has been done). Sir Christopher More married Walter Mugge's daughter Margaret. Their son, Sir William More, inherited some estates from his cousin Daniel Mugge of Guildford in c.1542.
