Administrative / Biographical History

Gower Petty Sessions Division was created in February 1868 out of Swansea Hundred. It consisted of the Gower parishes, excluding Oystermouth and Llanrhidian Higher, which were part of Swansea Hundred Division. It was merged with Swansea Borough Division in 1974 to create a division coterminous with the new Swansea City Council.
