Administrative / Biographical History

These records appear to originate from the administration of the International Bureau for the Suppression of Traffic in Persons: British National Committee (BNC), a British constituent of the International Bureau for the Suppression of Traffic in Women and Children (IBS). The BNC merged with the National Vigilance Association (NVA) in 1952.

These files appear to have been consulted in 1970 by Richard Russell, General Secretary 1957 - 1971 of the British Vigilance Association (BVA), as annotations in his hand were found in some of the files. They augment the papers of the BNC already catalogued in the 1970s, most of which consist of minutes of the Committee. As they are fragmentary, they have been arranged in roughly chronological order. Extra copies of the minutes have been weeded.
