W. J. Bill Harris papers. W.J. Harris was born 11th July 1892 the son of Thomas Harris a Swansea decorator. After leaving school he commenced work as a steel worker. In 1915 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve before joining the Royal Navy in 1916. During the 1920s W.J. Harris was the trainer and the Hon. Treasurer of the Cwmbwrla Amateur Boxing Club. Between 1929 and 1934 he worked in Canada as a gold prospector.
