Play scripts used by Nottingham Playhouse, c.1965-1979

Administrative / Biographical History

The Nottingham Playhouse, a repertory theatre, opened in November 1948 in a disused cinema building in Goldsmith Street, Nottingham. Nottingham City Council supported proposals to establish a new theatre site, which opened on Wellington Circus, Nottingham in 1963. John Neville (born 1927) was the theatre's artistic director from 1965 to 1968 after holding the position jointly for two years. The theatre provided a wide range of drama and rapidly established its reputation in the region.
