Originally established as the Resources Committee, it was renamed the Finance & Services Committee in 1993. It was replaced by the Policy and Finance Committee in 2001, which had a broadly similar mandate. The committee oversaw the department's financial planning, including the annual departmental budget major equipment projects. It reported to the DAB and the Executive Committee. From 2001, as the Policy and Finance Committee its wider remit included health and safety issues and academic leave.
