Administrative / Biographical History
The correspondence relates to the emperor penguin eggs collected at Cape Crozier by Cherry-Garrard, Edward Wilson and Henry Bowers during the Winter journey of 1911 (British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-1913). These eggs were subsequently deposited by Cherry-Garrard at the British Museum on his return from the Antarctic.
Bibliography
Apsley Cherry-Garrard recounted the journey to the Cape Crozier rookery in The worst journey in the world, first published in 1922.
