Scope and Content

The three boxes contain ephemeral material documenting the activity and the work of Berenice Sydney, such as small size b/w and colour illustrated exhibition catalogues and invitations; duplicates of articles, original and copied press cuttings, press releases, correspondence, statements, details regarding collections where the artist's work is currently held, lists of exhibitions; notes on the amendment of a Wikipedia entry on the artist; two CDs containing images of the artist's work, paper samples belong to the artist as well as files containing information regarding Sydney's biography, career, work, exhibitions and about the collections where the artist's work is held.

Administrative / Biographical History

Berenice Sydney, born Berenice Frieze was an English born (1944) painter and printmaker, who produced a substantial body of work from the end of the 1960s until her death in 1983. Her oeuvre consists of paintings on canvas and paper, prints, children's books, costume design and performance and her techniques were as varied as aquatint, etching, oil and lithographs. The artist's work has been shown in Britain and around Europe and the Middle East.
