Administrative / Biographical History
Preliminary designs for a central 'Great Hall' were laid out as part of George Gilbert Scott's scheme for the University Main Buildings. The Bute Hall was designed by George Gilbert Scott's son, John Oldrid Scott from 1882 to 1884. The decorative scheme of the Hall was restored in 1985.
Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements
The drawings are in various states of repair and of various sizes, generally they are sturdy enough for handling. However, some are damaged and should be handled with some care. The damaged drawings will be noted under the individual item heading.
