Administrative / Biographical History

The first meeting of the Pontyclun Social Club and Institute Limited was held on 3 September 1934 at 10 Cowbridge Road, Pontyclun. A governing structure was formed comprising a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Committee. Soon after its formation the Club applied for membership of the national Working Men's Club and Institute Union. It was proposed that membership of the Club should be limited to 140 and that one shilling per member per annum should be allocated to the Club Union Convalescent Homes. The Club opened 9 Oct 1924 and provided access to reading materials including newspapers together with a skittle alley.

The Pontyclun Social Club and Institute closed during the 1970s
