Scope and Content

Dearest Miss F, I ought to have answered your letter long ago, but for one cause or another here keep putting it off. I am very doubtful whether I can manage to lecture for you. _____ work is not high: and in the exciting times it is difficult to say when

one can get away. Wednesday evenings are the only free evenings (besides Sat. & Sunday). My lecture given here is not written; and it would take some time to get it up yours in Feb, or a new one _____ of it. On the whole I do not think I can provide anything: ___it is impossible to fix a day. What a strange political literature? With kind remembrances to Mr Chittender if he is with you. Ever yours affectly, GW Balfour.

Paper has, 'Station: -EAST LINTON NBRy, WHITTINGHAME, PRESTONKIRK' printed on it in black ink.
