Olive Petts Lovering was born in Clydach on 9 August 1893. The daughter of William a boot dealer and Hannah Petts. Olive studied for a BA at University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1915. During 1919-1920 Olive was in Paris where she appears to have been working and studying. This is where and when she wrote the diary. The family moved to Eastbourne in the early 1930s and by 1939 Olive was a teacher at a High School in Eastbourne. Olive later moved to Holly Lodge Mansions, Highgate, Middlesex. She died on 21 April 1952, aged 58.
