Acquisition Information

Inside the parcel is a holograph note signed by James Crossley, but not dated: "These curious Relics of Tim Bobbin I purchased from an old man who resides near Rochdale & whom I commissioned to look out for anything of Colliers for me. He also got for me his "Passions" & several copies of his "Lancashire Dialect" & some other books, two of which have Collier's Autograph. The Revd Canon Raines presented me with a List of the Sheriffs in Collier's Autograph. A Volume of Collier's MS Letters was sold at the Sale of the Revd Mr Mills & is now I think in the public Library at Oldham. His Family Bible with entries of the births &c & the bulk of his papers & correspondence have been presented thro' Canon Raines to the Chetham Library."
