Dinefwr Borough Council was formed by the amalgamation of the Borough of Llandovery, Ammanford Urban District, Cwmamman Urban District, Llandeilo Urban District and Llandeilo Rural District Councils in 1974. In 1993, Dinefwr Borough Council became part of the new Carmarthenshire County Council.
