Scope and Content

This series comprises content accumulated by Charles during his lifetime and includes correspondence and papers relating to his work as a Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister and managing the Wallington Estate.

There is also substantial content relating to his personal life, including his childhood and education, family and domestic matters and personal interests.

Arrangement

The arrangement in this series reflects the arrangement of the materials prior to their deposit at Newcastle University, groupings which were likely to have been made by Charles and his family. As a result, letters from specific individuals or related to certain events may be found in multiple sub-series. The sub-series are as follows:
