Title Deeds and Legal Documents

The title deeds relate to the Botanical Gardens at Old Trafford, and include deeds for the original purchase of the property from Thomas Joseph Trafford in 1829 (MBH1/1-6); subsequent mortgages and transfers of mortgages; successive reconveyances upon the appointment of new trustees of the Society; copies of the De Trafford Estates Acts, 1904 and 1914 (MBH1/21 and MBH1/27); an agreement for letting to the White City Limited in 1907 (MBH1/22); abstracts and statements of the title of the Society's trustees and the trustees of the de Trafford estates, 1900-c.1918 (MBH1/20, MBH1/26 and MBH1/32); and a duplicate conveyance of the Gardens to the White City (Manchester) Greyhound Association Limited, 1928 (MBH1/36).
