Sir Raymond Firth (1901-2002) was professor of anthropology at the London School of Economics (in succession to Bronislaw Malinowski) from 1944 to 1968. Influenced by Malinowski and Radcliffe-Brown, Firth was particularly noted for his studies of the social system of Tikopia.
