Administrative / Biographical History
This school was built in 1876 by the Thorne School Board (see SB15) on Thorne Road with separate Mixed and Infants Departments. From 1897 until 1918 they came under one head teacher then separated again. After 1904 the school was managed by the West Riding County Council and called Stainforth Council Infants School. Some time after 1944 the school became known as Thorne Road County Infants School. The school closed in 1973.
