Research notes for Bateson's two-volume publication Borough Customs (1904 and 1906), which examined the 12th- and 13th-century laws and a records of borough courts. Most of the files have been arranged in rough alphabetical order according to the name of the town or borough. The notes are primarily in Bateson's hand, but also contain papers in other handwriting, some of which dates from after her death.
