Administrative / Biographical History
The Glasgow House & Property Factors Association Ltd was formed in 1918 by the amalgamation of The Property Owners & Factors Association Glasgow Ltd and the Association of House Factors & Property Agents. The latter had been formed in Glasgow in 1867, while the former had been incorporated in 1917. The new company was supposed to be called the Association of Heritable Proprietors & Factors Association Ltd, but was called instead the Glasgow House & Property Factors Association Ltd. At that time House Factors managed residential properties for the landlord owners of many tenement buildings throughout Scotland. Following further amalgamations it became the Property Managers Association Scotland Limited (PMAS) in January 1991 .
