Scope and Content

Typescript drafts of short stories written by Moira Miller. Many of these stories were broadcast on BBC radio, primarily on the 'Nickety Nackety' programme, but not all of them appear to have been broadcast. Several of the stories also appear to be early versions of stories which appear in several of Miller's story books. Many of the drafts bear annotations in Miller's hand, and for several stories there exist drafts in successive stages of development.

The file contains drafts of the following stories, arranged alphabetically by title:

- 'Abigail Can't Sleep'

- 'Andrew's Plate'

- 'Andy's Christmas Eve'

- 'The Ballad of Bad Belinda'

- 'Ben's Bird Bells'

- 'The Bowl of Stars'

- 'Catriona's Magic Shell'

- 'Charlie, the World's Clumsiest Lion'

- 'Cinderella'

- 'Iain and the Silver Bugle' [apparently an early version of the story 'Solo: The Silver Bugle', which appears in 'Did You Think I Would Leave You Crying?' (Methuen: 1986) - see MM/03/05]

- 'It's the Frost'

- 'Kirsty's Concert'

- 'Manu and the Fish'

- 'Mr Crimble's Christmas'

- 'Mrs McMuddle's Bicycle'

- 'Mrs McMuddle's Spring Cleaning'

- 'Mrs McMuddle's Washing Day'

- 'The Particular Seagull'

- 'Pete's Three-Legged Granny'

- 'The Princess Who Had Too Much'

- 'Sam's Super Spuds'

- 'This is the Country!'

- 'Three Wee Witches'

- 'The Unhappy Ghost'
