Administrative / Biographical History

Papers relating to the lives and careers of Captain William John Davies, Swansea Sea Pilot and General Secretary of the National Union of Seamen and his son Raymond John Davies, postmaster at Barnes and local councillor. The collection was donated by a neighbour of Raymond Davies and given to Swansea Museum. It was sorted for local material and divided into manuscript and photographic sections. Material relating to the later career of Raymond Davies was given to the museum at Brentford where he served as a local councillor.

The records were originally held at The Royal Institution of South Wales, Swansea. They were transferred to West Glamorgan Archive Service in the Spring of 2004 as part of The Royal Institution of South Wales Collection.
