Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Sedgemore family came originally from the West Country of England. George Sedgemore, a coal miner, moved to Treherbert in Glamorgan, before moving once again to Coventry. He then moved back to Treherbert, before finally moving to Cardiff where he ran a newsagents on Conybeare Road.
Whilst undertaking war work in Coventry he appealed against a direction back into coal mining. He also fought for compensation as a victim of Silicosis. Mr Sedgemore's Great Uncle William Jones was also a coal miner and worked underground at Treherbert.
