OXFORD CITY CORONERS DISTRICT RECORDS

Scope and Content

The Oxford City Coroners District is the earliest district that we hold records for. No Coroners records for the county or city survive before the 20th century, so the only way to find out inquest details is through local newspapers.

In 1974 this district merged with the Oxford Central Coroners District (please see COR2 for these records) to form the Oxford City and Central Coroners District (please see COR3 for these records).

These records were deposited as Acc 1344 in October 1976 but were originally part of the City Archives. Catalogued by Alison Smith, Jennie Montague-Jones and Anna Clark in April 2022.
