Administrative / Biographical History

Dr Cecil John MacKinlay graduated Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB, ChB) in 1935 and Doctor of Medicine (MD) with commendation from Glasgow University in 1957. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Glasgow in 1960 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1966. His positions included Consultant Obstetrician for Robroyston Hospital in Glasgow, Chairman of the Gynaecological division and Consultant Obstetrician at the Royal Samaritan Hospital in Glasgow and Pathologist at the Royal Samaritan Hospital in Glasgow. He was the author of a ‘Biography of Dr Robert Houston 1678 -1734’, which was printed in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of British Commonwealth in 1973, and several papers on the pathology of ovarian tumours.
