Scope and Content

The records of the annexed burghs are: Anderston (H-AND), 1836 - 1846; Calton (H-CAL), 1817 - 1842; Crosshill (H-CRO), 1870 - 1891; Gorbals (H-GOR), 1700 - 1900; Govan (H-GOV), 1853 - 1912; Govanhill (H-GHL), 1876 - 1891; Hillhead (H-HIL), 1867 - 1891; Kinning Park (H-KPK), 1871 - 1905; Maryhill (H-MAR), 1815 - 1891, 1900; Partick (H-PAR), 1851 - 1913; Pollokshaws (H-SHA), 1813 - 1912; Pollokshields East (H-SHE), 1879 - 1892 and Pollokshields (H-SHI), 1876 - 1892.

It should be noted that the burghs frequently communicated with each other and in some instances had formalised agreements to share services. Therefore papers relating to one burgh may also be included in another burgh's records.

The Dean of Guild records for all relevant burghs were not part of the re-cataloguing project. Although some of the registers have been renumbered, no work was done on renumbering plans etc. As the original references for plans are used in a number of finding aids the original catalogue numbers may need to be retained and numbering changed again. As a result, please ask a member of staff if wishing to consult Dean of Guild records.
