Papers of Phillip Wade

Papers accumulated by Philip Wade as honorary treasurer of Christian Concern for Southern Africa (CCSA) between 1983-1994. Comprises: copies of CCSA financial papers, including Philip Wade's introduction to accounts at CCSA AGMs; Philip Wade's Executive Committee papers and correspondence; other assorted correspondence, including some relating to the dissolution of the CCSA; and various CCSA publications.

Philip A. Wade worked as the honorary treasurer of the Christian Concern for Southern Africa (CCSA) political pressure group from 1983 until the non-governmental organisation's dissolution in 1994. Wade also served on the Executive Committee of the organisation during this period.

CCSA was founded in 1972 as an interdenominational Christian body concerned with raising awareness of the political situation in apartheid South Africa and to co-ordinate the response of British Churches. CCSA had links with all major British Christian churches, relying predominantly on them for financial support although charitable organisations also gave assistance. The activities of the CCSA ceased in 1994 when the political situation in South Africa was believed to be improving significantly.

The papers have been arranged into four series: Financial Papers; Executive Committee Papers; Correspondence; and CCSA Publications.
