An album of press cuttings, photographs and other material relating to the campaign to secure Titian's 'The Death of Actaeon' for the National Gallery.

The cuttings relate to the appeal to acquire Titian's 'Death of Actaeon' (NG6420) which was successfully purchased by the National Gallery in 1972.

Custodial History

The album was compiled by James Holloway during his time as a student at the Courtauld Institute when he was part of the campaign to save the Titian for the nation. Holloway later became Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
