Papers re dispute between A.O. Davies and G.W.R.

Documents regarding legal proceedings between A.O. Davies and The Great Western Railway Company. Includes letters, conveyance, cases to advise and to settle process, court opinion (copy), indorsement of writ, title abstract (draft), plans, and notes.

A dispute between Arthur Owen Davies, esq. and The Great Western Railway Company over a proposal by the company to buy half an acre of land from Mr. Davies for the purposes of using the water therefrom to supply troughs for their trains. Having pulled out of the agreement during the drafting process, the GWR sought alternative sources of water and built a dam adjacent to Mr. Davies’ property. This caused flooding and damage to the property which Mr. Davies started legal proceedings over. Following this, the agreement was resumed and settled for £1,075.
