Scope and Content

The Junior Common Room was the social focus of Hall life for Hulme students. The students elected a Senior Man (later the Senior Student) to oversee running of the JCR and to represent their interests to the Hall administration. The student body also elected an executive committee to run its affairs. Affiliated to this were other Hall societies, notably the common room committee and the athletic club. This section also includes the Suggestions Books, which students used to complain about (or praise) Hall services - these were submitted to the Senior Man for comment.
