Scope and Content

Over Worton is a village in the north of Oxfordshire, just to the south-west of Deddington. In 1928, the parish of Over Worton was united with that of Nether Worton. These parishes are now united with Great and Little Tew.

After the unification of Over and Nether Worton, it seems that the registers of Over Worton were used for baptisms, marriages and burials for both villages.

The records of Over Worton were deposited with Oxfordshire Archives in 1985 and 1996, with the respective Accession Numbers 2418 and 4095. Two Appendices list the original contents of both Accessions, and provide a concordance of old and new reference numbers.

Catalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in June 1996.
