Administrative / Biographical History
Educated at Berkhamsted School, Merry came up to St John's in 1930. He graduated BA, with a First Class in the Mechanical Sciences Tripos, in 1932, and subsequently served in the Royal Engineers, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1958. Merry then embarked upon a second career as a teacher of electrical engineering, at technical college level, at Farnborough, Toronto, and Reading. Merry died in June 1997.
