Miscellaneous Items: Custom House, Beaumaris and the Beaumaris Festivities Committee.

A custom house was a building housing the offices for the government officials who processed the paperwork associated with importing and exporting goods, and regulated commerce. Customs officials also collected customs duty on imported goods. The custom house was typically located in a seaport or in a city on a major river, with access to the ocean. The Custom House in Beaumaris was under the government of William Wynne Sparrow of Red Hill.

These items were found under the eaves of Summerhill in Beaumaris during renovation work by Miss Gwen Coulthard. The items were leant to Geraint Madoc Jones in 1972 as part of his research for a newspaper article on the run up to the 1973 Eisteddfod to be held in Beaumaris.
