Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Morgan Lloyd is described as of Lancych in the parish of Boncath, Pembrokeshire, in the years 1739-1762. On his death Lancych passed to his widow, Sarah Lloyd. In 1770 she married David Griffiths of Vaynor, who came to reside at Lancych. According to the terms of her will, the estate was partitioned; a moiety being devised to her relation Mariamne Jones, who had married the Rev. Thomas Thomas of Jordanston, Pembrokeshire, in 1807. Her share in the estate was eventually inherited by Walter David Jones, a doctor and an antiquarian who died in 1869. He left the estate to his wife Ann for life, then to his son John Francis Jones who later, for reasons which remain unclear, assumed the additional surname of Lloyd. John Francis Jones Lloyd was succeeeded by his son, Herbert Arthur Jones Lloyd (d. 1932), a solicitor. His heir was Owen Jones Lloyd.
