Llansawel Parish Council records

Records of Llansawel Parish Council, Carmarthenshire, 1852-1901, including vouchers, letters, petitions, and accounts, 1852-1896; minute books and account books, 1852-1894; and accounts of the Cynwyl Gaeo parish council regarding highways, 1895-1901.

Pre-1894 civil parish records contain minutes of monthly vestry meetings relating to ecclesiastical matters, rate books, and accounts. Civil parish councils were established by the Local Government Act 1894 and were responsible for civil administration and local matters, such as recreation grounds and village halls. Community councils replaced parish councils under local government reorganization in 1974.

Arranged into the following: bundles of vouchers, letters, petitions, accounts, etc.; minute books, account books, etc.; and miscellaneous, in chronological order.
