Postcards from various locations largely sent between Thirza Swindells and her sister, Hilda Swindells, of Llandeilo.

Thirza Swindells (born 1922) and Hilda Swindells (born 9th June 1924) to James and Harriet Swindells (nee Hyde), grew up at 10 Quay Street, Llandeilo. Thirza went on to train as a midwife in London leaving Hilda at the family home.

Working at both the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street (1942-45), and at Guys Hospital, Thirza eventually became a Senior Nurse Tutor. Working at Guys Hospital until at least 1959, Thirza appears to have eventually moved back to Wales and to focus on her passion for herbs and gardening and became an active fundraiser, largely raising money for local hospitals and hospital equipment.

The sisters were also instrumental in creation of the Llandeilo and District Gardening Club, founded in 1977, with Thirza serving as General Secretary until October 2014.

Thirza passed away at Glangwili Hospital on the 26th January 2018 aged 96. Her sister Hilda passing just a few months later on the 1st March 2018 (age 93) at Melbourne House Care Home in Cross Hands. Both were laid to rest in Llandeilo Churchyard.
