This series contains sketchbooks from 1959 and 1960 when Paul Clark was a student at Hammersmith College of Art. There is also one sketchbook from 1962, when Clark started a course in Industrial Design at The Central School of Arts and Crafts. The majority of the sketches are in pencil or ink, although there are also some using watercolour paint and printing. Clark appears to have added dates and locations to some of the sketchbooks at a later date. These are written in pencil either on the front or inside cover of the books. This information is recorded in the Scope and Content field for each item.
