Scope and Content

The collection comprises of correspondence relating to the search expeditions sent by the British Admiralty and private individuals for Sir John Franklin and the missing British Naval Northwest Passage Expedition, 1845-1848 (led by Franklin)

Robert White was a contemporary of John Rae (1813-1893). He was part of the shipbuilding partnership John and Robert White.
