Administrative / Biographical History
The Paynter family were a prominent family in Amlwch during the 19th century with wide ranging business interests as well as being corn merchants they has connections with the legal profession, insurance, shipbuilding and the timber trade.
John Paynter, was a corn and timber merchant. He died in 1843 and left his house Maesllwyn to his nephew, John Wynne Paynter who also became a prominent merchant and magistrate. John Wynne, Paynter, senior died in 1882. His son, John Wynne, Paynter junior was a solicitor in Amlwch.
